Message from Tumaini Fund President Michael Moore:

Our recent Tumaini fundraising event held at the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club this past March

19th was the culmination of hard work by so many people to bring the Colors of Hope message to

a much wider audience than in previous years. Dr. Susan Wilson’s talk about the work Tumaini is

doing to transform the lives of so many of the orphans in Kagera touched the hearts of the more

than 150 people in attendance and inspired them to give generously to fund such basic needs

such as mosquito nets, school supplies, solar lamps, bikes, housing, wells for clean water and

more. For many, this was the first time they have heard of Dr. Wilson’s work, which for the past 15

years has brought so much hope to the more than 30,000 orphans that she and her team are now

supporting in the Kagera region of Tanzania. There are tens of thousands more that have not yet

been reached so the work of Tumaini is just as important as ever to bring hope to those as well.

Once one hears Dr. Susan speak, they know that the love of Christ directs all that she does. Next

year, we are looking forward to bringing our message to even more people at the Colors of Hope

event which will once again be held at the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club on Saturday,

March 18, 2017.

A special note of thanks is due to our past president, Rick Swope, who for the past three years has given so much of himself to serve Tumaini. In January of 2014 Rick traveled with Dr. Susan to Kagera, Tanzania and witnessed firsthand the lifesaving work of Dr. Wilson and her Tumaini team to provide basic needs to the orphans and families there. Rick has mentioned many times how that trip was such a meaningful and life changing experience for him. That has been evident as he has been a passionate spokesperson for the orphans of Kagera throughout his leadership of Tumaini Fund USA. He has been a wonderful Christian role model for me, as the new Tumaini Fund President, and has set a high bar to follow. Thank you Rick for all  you have accomplished these past years at the helm of The Tumaini Fund, USA and we look forward to your continuing wise counsel as an ongoing board member.
Sewing for Hope, under Lis Wilson’s leadership, is another bright spot for Tumaini. Word is spreading throughout the United States about the outreach work started by a few volunteers in Naples to make clothing for the Kagera orphans and new groups are continually inquiring about starting their own Sewing for Hope chapters. It is amazing that, to date, over three thousand dresses have been shipped to Tanzania. What a wonderful gift this has been for children of Kagera also allowing them to attend school.
To all our volunteers and contributors, please accept our thanks for not just making a difference in the lives of the people of Kagera, Tanzania but for saving lives as well.

Sincerely,

Michael Moore, President Tumaini Fund USA
